The department actively monitors enrolment growth throughout Queensland to ensure all children, no matter where they live, have access to quality educational facilities.
When planning for new schools, the department considers the capacity of the existing network, the ability to expand existing schools, growth in the local student population and land availability. These reviews inform the decision to establish new schools at the appropriate time and in the correct location to meet student demand. This planning work is an important step in prioritising future investments in new school infrastructure.
