The department is planning to deliver a new Health Sciences Academy for Rockhampton to provide local students in Years 10 to 12 the opportunity to pursue their passion for healthcare through both vocational education and training opportunities and tertiary pathways with early access to university while completing their secondary schooling close to home.

Preliminary consultation is being undertaken for the new Academy.

The Academy will boost the pipeline of health workers in regional Queensland by helping to fast track local students into health careers of choice, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and allied health professionals.
