Access to free kindy

Delivering free kindergarten (kindy) education in a government-approved program External link, of 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, for children in the year before Prep.

Kindergarten programs are offered in long day care services as part of their extended hours of care, or sessional kindergarten services during school hours each school term.

State Delivered Kindergartens

State Delivered Kindergartens External link deliver free, quality kindergarten programs in rural and remote communities and areas of need.

Promoting a successful transition for children and families from home or early childhood education to school, including Enhancing K–2 Continuity and Alignment— a blueprint for developing strong connections between kindergarten providers and schools.

Early years plan and wellbeing framework

Outlining the actions we are taking to support Queensland children’s early learning, health and wellbeing as they grow. It includes the Queensland Children’s Wellbeing Framework, providing a common language, aspirations and commitments for the wellbeing of children aged 0 to 8.
