Agricultural Assistants support teachers and students to ensure that the agricultural field study sites, animals, crops, machinery and equipment used by the school are maintained in a functional, secure and safe manner.
You are classified as a member of the non-teaching staff; all non-teaching staff must undergo a
Working with Children Check and hold a Blue Card to work in a school.
Role description
Your duties are described in the
role description for your classification.
Line manager
Your line manager should be your first contact if you experience any difficulties. The Agricultural Assistant reports in the first instance to the Head of Department or subject coordinator responsible for the school’s agricultural department, but is ultimately responsible to the school Principal. Agricultural Assistants may report directly to the school Business Services Manager on some issues.
Professional interactions
You may have friendly relationships with families that are part of the school community; however it is important that you do not discuss students, their progress or behaviour with anyone other than the students' teachers.
