Before you start work in a school, you must have your current teacher registration with the
Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
The
Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APSTs) are used for registration purposes in Queensland.
QCT provisional registration
All new teachers are provisionally registered. Visit the QCT for information on moving from
provisional to full registration.
Once you are fully registered, you will need to participate in the
renewal of registration process.
Probation
All new teachers employed in a Queensland state school undergo a six-month
probation period. This helps us to understand your skills, knowledge and abilities, and to identify areas where you may need support or further development. It also helps you to plan and set career and developmental goals.
