With more than 24 years’ experience in the areas of Justice, Children and Youth Services in Queensland, Phillip brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Department of Education. Over 20 of those years he worked in operational roles—including Regional Director Child Safety and Officer in Charge at the Queensland Police Service.
Phillip most recently held the position of Deputy Director General First Nations’ Strategy, Partnerships and Queensland Representative School Sports in the Department of Education. He has also held other Senior Executive roles within the Queensland Government, including Deputy Director-General Corporate, Strategy and Operations in the Department of Youth Justice, and Commissioner at the Queensland Family and Child Commission.
Phillip is a descendant of the Bidjara Tribe through his great-grandfather, the Kairi Tribe through his great-grandmother and the Ducabrook Clan located at Springsure, Central Queensland.
Phillip completed the Executive Master of Public Administration with the Australia and New Zealand School of Government in 2020.
