The Queensland Government is planning to deliver a new multi-purpose hall for Freshwater State School.
The government has committed to providing this new facility for the school and, in consultation with the school community, has revisited location and design options.
Community engagement
The department committed to further engagement with the Freshwater State School community to seek important feedback as it continues to plan for the delivery of the new multi-purpose hall.
Parents and carers, Parents and Citizens' Association members and current school staff were invited to nominate as volunteer members of the Freshwater State School New Multi-purpose Hall Internal Consultative Group (the consultative group).
The consultative group has worked closely with the department's infrastructure team, actively contributing in a series of 3 face-to-face sessions, held throughout the first school semester in 2025.
The outcome
The goal was to identify the most suitable location for the hall, balancing educational, environmental, functional, and community considerations and to deliver a clear preferred option to the department.
The consultative group considered numerous options with the group's preferred location for the hall considered and endorsed by the government's education Service Planning and Development Board.
More information about the location of the new multi-purpose hall is available in community update 3 below.
The department has provided a community update outlining what was discussed at each of the meetings held at Freshwater State School:

The department appreciates the involvement of the consultative group members in the consultation process and will continue to keep the community informed about the progress of the hall's development and construction.
