The Department of Education is planning to deliver a new $14 million multi-purpose hall for Freshwater State School.
After careful consideration of a range of factors, the department is not proceeding with the project as originally planned.
The department is committed to providing this new facility for the school and, in consultation with the school community, will revisit location and design options.
While revisiting location and design options will delay construction of the new hall for at least 12 months, the original budget allocated for the project has been secured.
Community engagement
The Department of Education committed to further engaging with the Freshwater State School community to seek important feedback as it continues to plan for the delivery of the new $14 million multi-purpose hall.
Parents and carers, P&C members and current school staff were invited to nominate as volunteer members of the Freshwater State School New Multi-purpose Hall Internal Consultative Group (the consultative group).
The consultative group will work closely with the department's infrastructure team, actively contributing in a series of face-to-face sessions to be held throughout the first school semester in 2025.
Nominations closed 5pm, Monday 9 December 2024.
Parents and carers, P&C members and current staff members selected to participate in the consultative group will be notified early in 2025.
