The department is committed to investing in education infrastructure to create and improve learning areas across the state. As part of this investment, the department is finalising an options analysis, with the preferred option identified as a new senior campus for Springfield Central State High School.
The new senior campus was initially planned to open in 2024; however, stabilising enrolments in the Springfield area means the project is not required as early as planned. The new senior campus opening is now being planned for between 2029 and 2030, with the opening year to be linked to student enrolment growth.
The new senior campus is planned to be located on Sinnathamby Boulevard, near the existing Springfield Central State High School.
To support continued enhancements at Springfield Central State High School, funding has been allocated toward the planning and delivery of building upgrades and refurbishments.
Members of the local community were invited to have their say on the proposed new senior campus from Monday 8 July 2024 to Sunday 21 July 2024.
Community engagement activities included:
- information flyers distributed to the Springfield Central catchment area
- an online 'have your say' survey
- school Facebook post
- school newsletter article
- a face-to-face pop-in information session held at Springfield Central State High School (school hall) between 3–5pm on Wednesday 17 July 2024.
A summary of the feedback received is available in the community engagement report.
All feedback received through community engagement is being considered by the project team.
