Since 2025, the Queensland Government, together with Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council and key school community members, has been working to develop a vision and identify stage 1, 2 and 3 educational improvements, new buildings and spaces for Bwgcolman Community School.
What may change at Bwgcolman Community School?
The outcomes we hope to achieve are:
- a master plan for Bwgcolman Community School
- a list of prioritised projects, categorised into stage 1, 2 and 3 potential projects.

Note: All proposed projects in the master plan are unfunded.
Community engagement
Parents, carers and the local communities were invited to have their say on the draft master plan from Wednesday 29 April until Friday 29 May 2026.
Community engagement activities included:
- draft master plan brochure
- online 'Have your say' survey
- school Facebook posts
- school newsletter articles
- Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council social media posts
- face-to-face engagement sessions held on Wednesday 13 May 2026 at Palm Island Mall.
All feedback received through community engagement is being considered by the project team.
